How it
works.
01How it works
What is Mask?
Mask is a privacy layer for swapping Solana tokens, built on NEAR Intents. You pick a route, Mask finds the quote, shows you every fee and helps you sign a single deposit in your own wallet. Then it tracks the swap until it’s delivered.
Mask never holds your funds or keys.
Fast or Max privacy — which should I pick?
- Fast
- A confidential swap on NEAR Intents. Usually done in minutes, 0.40% total fee. Best for everyday swaps.
- Max privacy
- Mask’s strongest route. Your deposit is routed through two separate exchanges by a privacy partner, so the payout comes from an unrelated wallet. Takes 15–45 minutes, costs more (fees are built into the rate) and starts at about $30. Pick the same token on both sides to send it privately to another wallet.
How does a Fast swap work?
Fast swaps use NEAR Intents’ Confidential Intents, a private transaction layer on top of NEAR Intents.
- Quote. NEAR Intents returns a signed quote with a one-time deposit address on Solana.
- Deposit. You send the exact amount from your wallet. This is a normal, public Solana transaction.
- Swap. The swap executes on NEAR’s private shard and settles back through the Private PoA Bridge.
- Payout. The output is sent to your recipient on Solana.
What about limit orders?
Limit orders rest a private sell order at your price on NEAR Intents until a buyer fills it. They come in two privacy levels, as NEAR Intents describes them:
- Basic
- “A confidential swap on an otherwise normal quote.”
- Advanced
- “A higher-privacy confidential swap.”
What if I close the tab mid-swap?
Nothing breaks. Once your deposit is sent, the swap runs without Mask. Every swap has its own status page that works after a reload or on another device, and Mask saves it under My orders on this device. You can also look any swap up there by its swap id or deposit address.
Which wallets work?
Phantom, Backpack, Solflare, and any other Solana wallet that supports the Wallet Standard. You approve the deposit in your wallet — or pay manually from any wallet. Mask only ever asks you to sign one transfer.
02Privacy
What does a private swap hide — and what doesn’t it?
Both ends of a swap are still visible on Solana. Anyone can see that your wallet sent tokens to a deposit address, and that the recipient received tokens. What Mask removes is the direct on-chain link between those two transactions. Privacy, not anonymity.
- Use a different recipient. If the output returns to the wallet that paid, the wallet itself links both sides. Deliver to a fresh wallet you control.
- Mind amounts and timing. A distinctive amount received right after a matching deposit is easier to correlate. Round amounts help.
- Off-chain parties. Your wallet, your RPC provider, Mask’s server and the route’s provider see request details. On Max privacy, the privacy partner requires your IP address, browser and timezone for compliance. Mask keeps no accounts or swap history; its hosting provider keeps standard request logs.
How can I check a quote is genuine?
Every Fast quote is signed by NEAR Intents. Mask verifies that signature on its server before showing it and won’t let you deposit to an address from a quote that fails. On the status page you can download the signed quote as your receipt.
03Fees
What does a swap cost?
Fast
- Mask fee
- 0.20%
- NEAR Intents fee
- 0.20%
- Total
- 0.40% of the input
Deducted from the token you pay — on 1 SOL, that’s 0.004 SOL. Stablecoin pairs (USDC, USDT, DAI) carry a lower NEAR Intents fee of 0.01%. A small flat payout fee for sending the output on Solana is already included in the quote.
Max privacy
All fees — Mask’s, the privacy partner’s and the exchanges’ — are built into the rate you’re quoted, so the expected amount is what you should receive. It costs more than Fast because the swap goes through two exchanges.
Also worth knowing:
- Your wallet pays the Solana network fee in SOL. Depositing an SPL token also pays a small one-time rent deposit (about 0.0015 SOL) to open the deposit address’s token account.
- If a swap is refunded, a small refund fee may be deducted.

04Tokens
Which tokens can I swap?
Solana tokens available on NEAR Intents — SOL, USDC, USDT and more, loaded live each time you open the swap screen. Max privacy supports the most popular of them; Mask tells you if a token isn’t available there. Some routes have a minimum size, and the swap screen shows it.
05Refunds & safety
What does “refunded” mean?
The swap didn’t execute, and your deposit went back to your refund address on Solana, minus any refund fee. For example:
- Incomplete deposit. Less than the quoted amount arrived.
- Market moved. The swap couldn’t meet your minimum output.
- Compliance. The deposit was flagged by screening (see below).
On Max privacy, some refunds need a support request. If your swap shows a problem, contact Mask support on X with your swap id.
Are swaps screened?
Yes. NEAR Intents applies automated compliance screening to quotes, checking the addresses in a request against several sources, and a flagged quote can be rejected or a deposit refunded. On Max privacy, the exchanges in the route screen deposits too, and can hold a swap linked to sanctioned activity.
Mask doesn’t run its own screening and can’t override it. Source: NEAR Intents — Risk & Compliance.
Does Mask ever hold my funds or keys?
No. Mask never asks for a seed phrase or private key and never takes custody. Your deposit goes straight from your wallet to the route’s one-time deposit address, and the output goes straight to your recipient. Mask’s server only relays quote and status requests.
06Partners & infrastructure
What is Mask built on?
Mask is built on NEAR Intents. Fast swaps and limit orders run through NEAR Intents’ 1Click API with Confidential Intents, using Mask’s partner key. You can look any Fast swap up on the NEAR Intents explorer.
Max privacy is powered by Houdini, a privacy-swap partner that routes each swap through two separate exchanges.
Mask’s own servers prepare quotes, verify them and track your swap. The swaps themselves settle on our partners’ infrastructure; Mask never holds the funds.
Where do I get help?
Message Mask support on X with your swap id (or the deposit address for a Fast swap) and, if you have it, the transaction signature of your deposit. Never share a seed phrase with anyone.
